How To Get The Most From Your Cleaning Service!
Have you just recently signed up for a cleaning service or are you about to? If you are thinking about having your home professionally cleaned, there are a few things you can do to get the very most of the experience!
- Put all items that are on the floor up onto couches, chairs or beds. This could be clothes, toys or even various floor decorations taking up floor space. By having the floor accessible, it is easier to clean, get into the corners and under furniture. It also makes it easier to get to the baseboards to clean.
- Leave trash liners out for your home cleaning crew. We always feel a little funny going into cabinets and closets searching for trash can liners to replace. Invariably, we put the wrong size into the wrong can. Leave liners on the counter for us to make it much easier and it allows us to focus on the deeper cleaner items in your home!
- Have the kitchen sink empty. When cleaning, we may have to use the sink to fill buckets and also when cleaning the kitchen area. So, it makes it easier when the kitchen sink is accessible. Also, allows us to give your kitchen sink a real good scrubbing too!
- Leave a step stool out. This will help some of us "shorter" cleaners to get to the higher places in your home. The best kind are the collapsible ones that are easily be carried from room to room.
- Take any towels out of the bathroom and put fresh ones in. There is something about walking into your home knowing your home is spotless and even the bathroom towels are fresh and clean! You can do this with bathroom rugs too. Some or our super organized customers will wash all their bathroom rugs the night before in preparation for their deep house cleaning.
- Have any intimidating pets or escape artist pets put away. It is quite nerve wrecking to work around a pet if you are not sure of them, with the possibility of getting bitten. For myself, I cannot give the cleaning my full attention if I am scared around an intimidating dog that is eyeballing me. :0
- Leave sticky notes on things that you need us to know about. This is quite helpful. For example if you didn't want a room cleaned, leave a note on the door or if you don't want us to touch a wobbly shelf, leave a note on the shelf.
- Communication, communication, communication is key! Take the time to communicate with your cleaning service about your pet peeves, quirky items in your home and what your expectations are. For Kidwell's Kleaning, we have work orders that we send to each customer before their first cleaning for our customers to go over and confirm. But sometimes I find, they aren't read and this could lead to some miscommunication. Take a few minutes to go over any paperwork or to talk to the cleaning service to prevent miscommunication in the future. Here, we have a standard checklist and then optional cleaning items (such as the inside of the fridge, inside of stove, etc.) that can be added if our customer would like us to add them. It is good to know what is on the lists!
- Take a few seconds for follow up. What was your home cleaning experience like? Were you happy or disappointed? Take the time to call or email the office to share your experience, or fill out an online evaluation form. This will help so much in the future if anything needs to be adjusted. Or if you were thrilled with your cleaning, this just is incredibly validating to the cleaners. The cleaners will look forward to coming to your home to clean again because they know they have made you so happy! Everyone loves feeling appreciated!
Well, those are some of the more important items that can help ensure a great cleaning. If you have any other things to add to the list, please email us at office@kidwellkleaning.com. We are extremely open to suggestions and appreciate any and all feedback!
