My Favorite Vacuum Cleaners!
I hope everyone is having a good February. I thought I would do an article of our favorite vacuum cleaners because we get asked quite frequently about this subject! With over 35 years in the cleaning industry, I’ve tried a ton of different types of vacuum cleaners, and I do have a few that I tend to really like! They all have their pros and cons, and I’ll go over them.
The first vacuum I really like is an upright vacuum called the Riccar Supralite vacuum cleaner. We have used these vacuums for years here at Kidwell’s Kleaning. Some pros about these vacuums are they are very light; you can buy hypoallergenic bags for them and they are easy to maintain. There is one con though about this vacuum - if you have a lot of animals, the bags can get kind of stinky between vacuuming. They are very good vacuum cleaners though and work great on all kinds of carpets and rugs for the most part. If you have a thick and high piled carpet though, you may wish to use a vacuum you can manually adjust. This vacuum is self-adjusting so you cannot manually adjust it and it can be quite hard to push on thick and high piled carpeting. The belt also can stretch out on the thick carpeting too. Below is a link to learn more about the Riccar.
Another upright vacuum I tend to gravitate to is the Oreck Commercial Vacuum. This is another very lightweight vacuum. It has soft bristles on the roller bar, so I feel okay using this vacuum on my hard flooring. It has a smaller vacuum head, making it a little easier to get into corners and tight spots. For some reason, it does not smell bad when I start it up after a few days of sitting. I have a lot of animals, so this is important to me. It also has a very long cord on it so I can vacuum a lot of square feet with it. I use this vacuum in my own home since it doesn’t seem to hold odors, it has a long cord and can be used on my carpets as well as my hard flooring. It also has a lower price point than the Riccar Supralight. Here is a link to this vacuum!
The third upright vacuum is quite different from the other two. This one has an incredible price point (currently about $60 at Walmart)! It is a little bit bulkier than the other upright vacuums BUT it has a dirt cup instead of bags. I really like dirt cups only because I enjoy seeing how much debris I have vacuumed up each time. (Yes, my husband thinks that is strange, lol!) The dirt cup can be emptied after each use, so the odors don’t have a chance to dwell. It also has a manual adjustment for different piles of carpet. This is good if you have a thick and high piled carpet. It also has a hose attached so you can whip out the hose for tight areas. It has quite a big head on it though so it won’t be able to get into tight corners like the Oreck can. A couple of other things about this vacuum is it has a short cord, and you will also need to take out the foam filter to wash it out occasionally. Here is a link to this very affordable vacuum.
And now for canister vacuums!
Canister vacuums have some great things about them too! Here are 2 canister vacuums that we tend to like.
The first canister vacuum to mention is the Sanitaire professional canister vacuum. Our team uses this here at Kidwell’s Kleaning for many homes we clean. This vacuum is very light weight and has 4 attachments to it. It has an attachment for hard floors and carpeted areas, an oval brush attachment that can be used for vents and baseboards, a crevice tool to get in tight spots and lastly an upholstery attachment for sofas, chairs and even stairs. You can also purchase a carrying strap to go it. The vacuum does have plastic wheels and not rubber. You not only can purchase paper bags for it but also a cloth like hypoallergenic bag if you like those better. The one thing to keep in mind is the vacuum cleaner does not have a beater brush on it. So, when you are vacuuming carpeted areas, you will be relying on the suction of the vacuum and may have to go over the carpeted area many times. But this vacuum is awesome on hard flooring. Here is a link to this vacuum cleaner.
Lastly, there is one other canister vacuum that is an all-around great vacuum for everything! It is the Kenmore canister vacuum. This canister vacuum has all the attachments like the Sanitaire does, but they are a little bit higher quality. It also has a separate attachment with a beater bar for carpeted areas! The bags are large so you won’t have to change the bag as often as you would other vacuums. The only thing about this vacuum is it is heavier (since it is heavy duty) and you would be dragging it behind you. You will also tend to lean over to use it although you can stand upright when using it to save your back. You will just have to concentrate on using it without bending over until it becomes habitual. I hope this information can help should you be in the market for a new vacuum. At Kidwell’s Kleaning, we tend to use a combination of uprights with canister vacuums or an all in one vacuum like the Kenmore. It really is just a personal preference. Of all the vacuums I have tested out in the past, these 5 are my favorite ones. OR you can always just hire Kidwell’s Kleaning to do your cleaning! But it is probably still good to have a vacuum on hand. Thank you for reading the article and let us know if we can answer any questions for you!
